Huawei-P20-Lite

Is it that success tends to make smartphone brands lazy? Maybe or maybe not. The biggest brands tries twice as much to replicate success on every of its output devices.

It's more or less the feeling that whatever they release into the market will generally accepted, and maybe garner rave reviews, which is absolutely wrong and totally unacceptable.

And how do you replicate more success? By doing much more better.

Huawei hasn't pretty much taken this path with its latest device, Huawei P20 Lite. I'm not trying to downplay the fact they're a really wonderful brand.

As a matter of fact, they're in the top 5 when you speak of quality smartphone manufacturers.

Huawei is China's biggest and leading smartphone manufacturers, but their latest flagship which parades the iPhone X design has nothing spectacular about it. What do you really expect of a Lite version?

Hey! Don't come for my head just yet until you see the specifications.

HUAWEI P20 LITE - WHAT IT IS

Huawei-P20-Lite

The Huawei P20 Lite is the latest flagship device from the manufacturers. It was previously scheduled for release on March 27th alongside the P20 Pro, but I guess it couldn't wait any longer.

It was released in China as Nova 3e.

Let's cop the important specs below:
  • Network: 2G/3G/4G
  • Display: 5.84" IPS LCD Capacitative Touchscreen Display
  • Resolution: 1080 x 2280 pixels
  • OS & Chipset: Android 8.0 Oreo, Kirin 659 chipset
  • CPU: Octacore (4x2.36 GHz cortex A-53)
  • Memory: 4GB RAM, 64/128 GB Internal Memory
  • Camera: 16MP + 2MP Dual Primary Camera. 16MP Front Camera
As you can see it packs good features.

DESIGN AND DISPLAY

Huawei-P20-Lite

The Huawei P20 Lite is a 5.84" device which parades the iPhone X slim design with a notch (an incision on an edge or surface) - which seems to be the notable difference.

It comes with IPS LCD Capacitive display for a sleek user experience, alongside a 1080 x 2280 pixels for better display.

Opinion: As per the iPhone X design, I have no idea of what was intended, whether to give smartphone users an iPhone X appeal or otherwise. This is not being original. I'd preferred it, had they stick to the P10 lite design or slightly upgraded design.

SOFTWARE & PROCESSOR

The P20 Lite runs the new Android 8.0 Oreo OS and Kirin 659 chipset. It boasts of an impressive Octa-core (4x2.36 GHz cortex A-53 & 4x1.7GHz cortex-A53) CPU; and houses a 4GB RAM with a monster 64/128 GB internal memory.

With those, there's definitely no chance of the device slowing down.

OPINION: When compared to Honor 7x and Mate 10 Lite, there isn't much difference save for the Android 8.0 OS (which is absolutely a normal scenario being the latest OS). But same old Kirin 659, I think they need a change.

CAMERA & MISCELLANEOUS

This flagship boasts an impressive 16MP + 2MP dual camera likewise a 16MP selfie camera. It possesses a LED Flash, Phase auto detection feature, HDR, Panorama and Auto focus features.

Fingerprint sensor is available. NFC, A-GPS and 3.5mm jack also available.

OPINION: Nothing spectacular. Water resistant? No

BATTERY

It houses a not-so-impressive 3000mAh battery which isn't an upgrade. A no-no for such a brand and thinking, it's 2018!

RELEASE DATE AND PRICE

The P20 Lite is already available in China and it's priced at €370 (NGN 163,700)

Huawei-P20-Lite

CONCLUSION

There weren't major upgrade aside the notch and few other features, when compared to Honor 7X and Mate 10 Lite. It's nothing more than a good mid-range device.

It's pretty much a very good device considering the fact it's a 'lite' version and a decent price tag to go with it. We expect more from the pro version though.

My Take on this - Huawei P20 Lite: Is It Worth It? Not worth the hype but certainly offers value for money.
