Apple_iPad_2018

The New iPad 9.7 (2018) is the latest offering from Apple. It was tipped to be the cheapest iPad yet, and it sure kept up to that expectation. It was announced at the recently held 2018 Apple Event in Chicago.

Though the iPad 9.7 2018 isn't spectacular, it's a significant upgrade to previous versions of iPad. It differs albeit when compared to the iPad 2017 and iPad Pro.

For the records, it's designed for the classrooms (the reason it was launched at a school), but not restricted to it. It could be used by whomever it appeals.

The New iPad 9.7 2018 is priced at $329, but will be available for $299 at schools. The iPad 9.7 2018 has the Apple pencil support (first iPad to adorn this feature), which is the notable difference from its predecessors.

To get the Apple pencil support, you'll have to do away with an extra $99 ($89 for schools).

Let’s cut to the chase…

Apple retains the design of the iPad 2017 model for its latest device. The new iPad 2018 runs the iOS 11.3 alongside the Apple A10 Fusion chipset. It’s same 9.7 inches display with a LED-Backlit IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen and 1536 x 2048 pixels screen resolution.

The iPad 2018 features a Quad Core CPU which clocks at 2.3GHz; a PowerVR Series 7XT Plus GPU for higher definition display; a 32/128 GB internal memory; and a 2GB RAM. Apple made mention of this device being 40% faster than its previous generation of iPad.

It’s a 4G LTE enabled device which supports the Apple e-SIM giving you access to other network providers.

And… its 32.4Wh non-removable Li-ion battery offers you upto 10h talktime.

Apple took a slight dig at the chromebooks, but for what it's worth, this new iPad still can't compete with the chromebooks which is highly favoured by educators and schools. You could even get a quality chromebook for less amount.

It’s a relief to actually see Apple produce a device for the educational space and I say, “Welldone Apple. More of the same please.”
